Family Connection: Summer Edition

Kelly from the Mindful Explorers

I'm Kelly, a mum of 2, former primary school teacher and trained mindfulness teacher, and founder of Mindful Explorers, a nature and mindfulness community based in Cambridgeshire and online. I put together the Summer Explorer Pack as a gentle companion for the summer holidays: a collection of simple activities, creative pages and mindfulness ideas for children and families to dip in and out of. Think nature spotting, journaling, breathing exercises, colouring and a few little makes. Nothing complicated, just some lovely things to do together.

Sarah from Storytime with Sarah’s Little Bookshelf

Hi I'm Sarah and I run Storytime with Sarah's Little Bookshelf Podcast. Here I showcase my short stories and poems for children narrated by myself. After working with children for over 20 years I wanted to share my passion for stories with children around the world.

Meet Jack the Bee, Lily the Butterfly, Pip the Ladybird, Tiny the Ant, Boris the Spider and Joe the Snail. 6 minibeasts friends introduced to children through audio poetry. A Minibeast Tale allows children to learn about their new friends in a fun way but it also supports children's language and vocabulary development through a relaxing medium. Each Minibeast is introduced with their own music to match their personalities.

Marelen from Mindfully Bee

I love teaching Creative Mindfulness to people of all ages! I also love skies, so my resource is a combination of both these loves. We start with some mindful cloud spotting and finish with some soft, squishy cloud dough.

The Online Language Lounge provides online lessons in French, German and Spanish. The aim is to help students to increase their confidence through communication, whether that is for fun, for exams or for work. Learners of any age are welcome and they currently range from 5 years old to 60 something!

This Summer resource is a mindful nature-based treasure hunt and it can be done in your garden, in a park or there is an inside alternative. Pronunciation for the key words is provided, along with images and English translations.

Penelope from Books by Penelope Willis

I create calming stories and gentle resources designed to help little ones feel safe, soothed, and emotionally connected. My work is inspired by bedtime comfort, nature, wonder, and the quiet magic found in everyday moments of childhood.

For this collaboration, I have created a gentle bedtime story called The Little Butterfly and the Sleepy Meadow Sky, along with a soothing read-aloud audio, a printable letter from the butterfly, and a calming evening noticing activity. I hope this little pack encourages cosy connection, quiet moments together, and a sense of calm as the day grows sleepy.

I'm a mindfulness Teacher, my goal is to teach simple nature based mindfulness activities.

Befriend a Tree is a simple mindfulness activity

Children regularly visit one special tree and quietly observe changes in the tree, helping them build focus and connection to nature.
